Classic Tamarind Chutney

This tangy and sweet chutney can be used as a dip or stir-in sauce for numerous snacks. From pakoras and samosas to sandwiches and salads, this chutney is a perfect condiment to add some zesty flavor.

1/2 cup tamarind paste
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cayenne
1 teaspoon black pepper powder
1 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon clove powder
2 cups warm
1 tsp vegetable oil
1 tsp salt

1. In a small bowl, mix tamarind paste, water, sugar, and salt.
2. Heat ghee in a pan.
3. Add chili, cumin, clove, and pepper powders to the ghee.
4. Add tamarind mixture (from step 1) to the cooking ghee.
5. Bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat and cook until thick.
