Tamarind Chutney

Description

This tangy chutney can be used as a dip or stir-in sauce for numerous snacks. You can have it with bread on a salad sandwich or you can have on your plate with your favorite curry.

Ingredients

  • 1⁄2 c tamarind paste
  • 1⁄2 c brown sugar
  • 1 t caynne
  • 1 t black pepper powder
  • 1 t roasted cumin powder
  • 1⁄2 t Clove powder
  • 2 c warm water
  • 1 t Vegetable oil
  • 1 t salt

Instructions

In a small bowl mix tamarind paste, water, sugar, and salt. Heat ghee in a pan. Add chili, cumin, clove, and pepper powders. Add tamarind mixture. Bring to a boil and reduce to low heat and cook until thick.

Can also be served as a dip.
