A great snack at a celebration. Chikki is a traditional Indian sweet that you make it with nuts and sugar. In India they would use jaggery which can also be made from date sugar. There are a range of traditional varieties of chikki, but you can put in them what you like best, puffed rice, shredded coconut, etc.

Ingredients

  • 3 T unsalted butter, margarine
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 c chopped mixed pistachio, almond, cashew
  • 1 t white poppy seed
  • 2 t Cardomon powder
  • 1 t rose water

Instructions

* Melt butter in a pan. Add sugar and stir at a high temperature until it forms a light brown colored syrup. Add poppy seeds, nuts, and rose water. Remove from stove. Stir briskly for a minute. Turn out on a greased tray. Using a wooden spoon or spatula spread evenly. Allow to stand for 2-3 minutes and cut into small squares.
